came home from work and she was floating at the top it looked as thoughher chest was ripped open. i recently got her about a week ago with 6 other females, another died it had swim bladder to start with. They all have a gravid spot and some look really fat. I check them carefully to see if they are going to give birth but dont see any noticeably square off. Ive never had a fish give birth and read its bad to put them into a net to soon. now im worried about my others. i dont no if she was harrassed to death and stored the fish or if she just died and was eaten open buy the others, her inside were black. The females do get chased by the males but i thought this was normal, shall i stick them into the breeding net?

i watched alot of videos and sum the fish giving birth are not as fat as mine but the majority they are, i really dont no wot to do :S

Poor thing. R.I.P.

Anything sharp in the tank that could of caused it.

Just want to check your fish don't have internal parasites, as swim bladder can also be a sign of internal parasites.

Internal parasites signs are as follows.
Long stringy white poo or clear mucas poo. Or red poo.
Worms prutruding from the anus.
Enlarged anus or red inflamed anus.
Sunken in belly sometimes.
Fish will look skinny or bloated.
Bent spine sometimes.
Fish will sometimes swim on its side.

Was the split clean or look like it was an explosion or a rupture. Was her insides sticking out.

she could have been ripped open because the other fish had began feeding on her. Not a nice though but I've found tiny little skeletons in my tank before.

all my female fish have a dark gravid spot and a few look pretty big, but as i have only had them for about a week i dont no how far gone they are. Some look big but none have squared off so i havent done anything to it.

it appeared as tho it was more like she exploded open not a clean cut, but this could maybe be from the other fish in the tank eating her , i dont no how long she was dead, she was alive at midnight last night. Inside i jsut see sum black stuff its the first time ive seen a fishes insides i jsut felt sick.

They have all ben eating well, a few times the single off but thats the larger ones, i watched them to see if they would give birth but they usually rejoined in with the others or moved about the tank. I guessed they just wanted a break from the crowd, maybe they wanted to give birth but didnt feel safe, next time i see this i think i will but it into the net divider.

as for parasites the fish dont resemble any of them conditions but i will check them carefully all night.

was is considered ok harassment from males? a few nips? following it for a few mins? hours?

Ok.
Heard of livebearers exploding before. Not nice poor things.
Keep a close eye on the other fish.
Good Luck.

I would preform a water change with the insides leaking into the tank water.

With livebeaters it 1 male to 3 females.
I would maybe think of rehoming some males.
Good luck.

the remaining 4 females from the batch of 6 that i bought i moved to a new tank i set up. They seem very lethagic and either rest at the top under sum floating plants or under sum bogwood rarely swimming about. They dont appear sick, the only signs i can see is perhaps slightly pinkish in the gills wen breathing but i thought thats normal. They eat properly aswell. Are they jsut scared of there new environment? they have gone from think planted to bractically nothing with lots of space. i thought perhaps they wernt getting enough air so that why they stayed jsut under the surface, but one of them sits under the wood for ages. Perhaps they are all jsut about to give birth or something im not sure. i jsut cant see visible signs of sickness but they dont do much which is worrying.

Is the new tank still cycling.
Can you post water stats please.

Water change and increase aeration.

its a 65liter tank, i bought it wednesday, it has an internal filter which is stocked up with media and sponges from my external filters thats been going for months. The sand i sucked out of my big tank and half the water i took from it also. The other half i filled with RO water.

stats

ph - in between 6.5-7
nitrite - 0
nitrate - 20

i came home from work and they were sat at the top of the tank and the male was swimming around fine. I stuck some bloodworm in there and increases the filter flow to agitate the water more and there being more active. I will head out tomoro and get an air stone. The thing is for me to get an extra tank i kinda told my girlfriend it could be hers, and she will pick a really tank air stone :(

I would add anti internal bacteria med by interpet to the tank.
Keep a look out for when the fish go to the toilet.

does it kill the bacteria in my filter and stick me back to square one? i have some here and it says jsut mix it up and make sure the carbon pad is not in the filter, anything else i need to do?

it can slightly water stats but its never knocked mine.
You mix the med in warm water to activate it I think.
Increase aeration as med reduce 02 in the water.
Make sure the meds not out of date.

mmmmm i cant see a date on the meds and as i didnt buy it and was given it ill wait untilll tomroo when i can also buy an airstone for it
