Gutted. Platy was days away from giving birth too

Suggestions on what to do with the flesh eating flying fox?

A Flying Fox doesnt have a large enough mouth to eat a Platy. Any fish however will feed on a dead fish. What else do you have in the tank

Yeha i realised when i got in it couldnt have been the flying fox. However, the poor little platy had its belly eaten as well as all the little frys that where in there. I suspect a certain male platy now as it was constantly chasing her the last few days

the males chase females when theyre pregnant all the time, i dont think a platy would do that

well none of the others could do it?

Got a few baby mollies from my sister (they are just shy of platy size) 5 neons and (now) 3 platys. The flying fox was eating her, but i agree didnt kill. Anyone offer some suggestions on what could have happened?

i think the female must have just died and then the other fish will have just eaten it, i dont think any fish in there would kill another fish

I agree, the fish could have died from the stress - my one platy casualty was when she was also pregnant. Had she been trying to hide quite a lot beforehand?

I found one of my preggers guppies like that before. Came home from work and she had her belly eaten out. It was seriously nasty looking, I just had guppies, platys, mollies and danios at the time. Don't know who the closet piranha was, maybe it was an angry mob, I've seen platys go int a feeding frenzy for bllodworms?

yea bloodworms are food for them.
think about it, you go crazy for lets say a steak, its food for you, would you go into a feeding frenzy after a squirrel running down the street?

Squirrels, Steaks, what are you on about???
I'm not getting your point. :S
Something in the tank ate the pregnant guppy and fish are canabals, it's just part of their natural behaviour.
