Fluvel 305

got my fluval 305 in working order but there are no rim connector clips with it (the guy still had them on his tanks) so got a bit knocked off the price, where can i buy replacements ? i know you dont nessicarily need them and for now its being set up without (just with suction caps and whatever else I can to keep it in place outside the water)

any ideas ?

I had the same issue with my 2nd hand one.....you can find them (takes a bit of searching!) but they aint cheap....think I ended up paying £8 each. I put it off for ages and just had them looped over the rim and jammed in placed with an old internal filter holder.....but got fed up in the end and replaced them.

Got some cheap suction caps to hold them for now . Tank is back upto temp as dropped to 21degress while I was messing with it (found a guppy in the old filter while taking it out lol must have got in overnight when it fell off again lol) it's still alive and looks ok.

305 up and running on about half flow hope I've got it set up right with regards to the height of the "out" end of the pipe in the tank it's about 2 thirds up the glass (2 foot high tank)

Just letting water settle now and will do water stats later on to see what they are like. Probably get a bit of a cycle as not all my media from old tank would fit in the 305 so got as many bio balls / noodles and sponge in as I could and just see what happens

I would have the outlet nearer the surface - you want it to disturb the water surface which then oxygenates the water - a still water surface (no ripples) may mean a lack of oxygen for the fish.

and I would get at least one more suction cup on the outlet and inlet - if either fails you will either get:

a) a soaking wet floor and a 2/3 empty tank - plus a burnt our filter (outlet pings off and shots water out of the tank)
b) just a burnt out filter (inlet pops above water)

I've got a air line with 2 outlets bubbling in the tank so should be enough oxygen etc but yeah accept I need another cap on the outlet .... I ran out lol gt to get another on there

Waters cleared lovely got to check stats in the morning so fingers crossed
