Fluval Pipework

I've a 104 (Fluval external) and need some replacement pipework, I know the Aquastop valves are the same for all models, but the pipework is bigger for the 304 / 404. Therefore the bigger pipework will fit, but how will it function? Anyone have any experience of doing this?
I'm asking because I may be able to get the pipework etc from a stripped down 404.
