As it comes stocked, I was wondering about the potential to be able to use it as a fully planted nano tank, with black eco complete substrate. I would dose excel...carefully and with other ferts. It is a really nice looking tank, and I am set to move again and may not be able to run either of my two tanks:(. I was thinking of a piece of driftwood covered completely in narrow leaf java fern, a dwarf lotus on on side, and java moss. Come to think of it, black sand would probably be better, as I wouldn't need the great substrate if these are the only plants I'd keep. I guess my question is...would I be able to grow a carpeting plant with that lighting and dosing excel daily,.... hmmmmm.

I have upgraded the lights to 2 x mr11 leds from ebay (about 15 quid each) and use gravel as a substrate. I have ordered java moss and dwarf hair grass a sa caret and hope this will be ok. According to requirements it looks like it should.
For plants look at some of the smaller cryps (wendtii), anubias and mosses.

Hmmmm. Cryptocoryne parva is even smaller. Possibly marsilea hirsuta or minuta. If you really pumped the CO2 and ferts, perhaps HC, as I have seen it grow under lower light levels and I think this tank is rather shallow, yes? You could possibly do a dry start with the HC?

I think I've seen it before. Can you jog the memory with a picture? It's the tank with all glass edges right and looks like it's sitting on something. Pretty cool, but I'm always concerned about filtration in these tank sets. Never seems to be enough.

I'm doing something similar with an edge tank I got for Christmas, I have ordered seachem fluorite black sand, I won't be doing anything spectacular with plants but I have bought some driftwood and will be putting some celestial pearl danios and cherry shrimp in there.

Saw the danios in our LFS really goregous and small fish they are also know as galaxy rasbora check them out.

The galaxy rasboras/celestial pearl danios are really lovely looking fish. I saw some today in Tri Mar, cornwall, and was tempted to get them, but i opted for endlers livebearers instead. They are a little smaller and amazingly colourful

Will have to check them out, how big do they grow?
