Fluval Edge Or Birob?

personally i found the bi-orb difficult to keep clean. the filter didn't work overly well, and trying to syphon was a nightmare. it scratched easily and looked a mess in some parts. its a nightmare to plant, and you can only have the smallest of fish in there

is it just me, or, reading that first post back,
does it seem like the op isn't looking to buy a tank at all?
more like just get information for a company?
or am i just being too skeptical LOL

I'm thinking of re-designing a fish tank that suits customer's needs better
. Thanks, Olivia

Not being funny, why not design the tank that suits the fishs' needs better?

That's true, i guess that represents 90% of what the customer's need, but it will also depend on the type of fish the customer is getting...perhaps i can design it in a way that it suits a variety of fish.

You should really get a Fluval Chi. For 100 bucks, you get way more, and it's very nice. What kind of fish do ya want to get?

Zophie :fun:

I have bought a Fluval Chi yesterday :) Not too sure what fish to get for that shape of tank as it is quite deep I would say. The filter and lighting clamp-on component seems interesting. How do you find your new Fluval Chi tank then? Thanks, Olivia

If you are still wondering about 'designing' a tank then my ideal tank personally would be...

Braceless and rimless
Good quality hang on back or external filter with clear plastic or glass tubing
Also perhaps some sort of 'fake' partition to put the heater in so it's unseen.

Plus if it came with some 'clip on' accessories that enabled you to easily contruct a moss wall, moss carpet, riccia carpet... etc

Basically a tank that is a nice normal shape, but looks stunning due to simplicity.... not cause it's a 'piece of furniture'.

Infact a modification on the fluval chi would be good... if you could somehow slot a high power miniature heater into the filter compartment and then scale the chi up to a reasonable size (60l +) and not make it quite as tall...

Now THAT would be a great tank.

the other day i was having a rather stupid conversation with a friend that started out talking about putting a tank through my wall and ended up designing a whole house made up of tanks (as i said - got very silly)

But... one idea that stuck with me (still pretty stupid) was an aquatic bath - eg a large sealed rectangular tank with a bath shaped indentation in the top.
Design issues that need overcoming are
1) how to feed fish / maintain tank (maybe have the whole lid lift up? but then you need to waterproof the seal and make it light)
2) how to insulate the bath so it doesnt either cool your bath down or heat the tank up.
3) how to make the plumping of the bath fit in with the plumping for the tank

Your the designer so il let you think about that, but if you sort it, i'l buy one! (for anything under £100 cos im poor)

A bath tub aquarium?

If there weren't so many kinks, that would be brilliant O_O

i still think its worth looking in to. As you say, many kinks but i think it would be worth it!

Just buy a clearseal tank and add lights, filter and heater. You can probably get a much bigger tank for the price of biorb/edge meaning more stable water parameters and more fish.

Good Luck anyway,
