Fluval E Series Heaters

thanks for that hillmar :good:

i think ill give them a go and see how they get on. i cant get the same model in the UK but there are very similar devices available and the price isnt that much different from a 300w rena smart heater so worth a bash i guess.

Hey matt, i have got a Eheim Jager 300w heater that i am very impressed with which is running on the big tank you saw. I have read that the E series sometimes show a low flow warning light which would annoy the hell out of me!

i just dont like the idea of glass heaters anymore tbh whatever the manufacturer as they are too easily damaged. the renas were a perfect alternative but after having 1 fail and not cut out raising the tank to 32 degrees C and the other randomly flashing but keeping the temp at the desired temp i have lost faith a bit. ive also emailed rena with no reply as of yet

i have heard nothing but great things about the titanium heaters except that a heater guard might be a usefull item to get to prevent fish burns. also with the temp controller out of the water its easier to adjust and you dont get wet :hyper: they also have a seperate probe to read the tank temp away from the heater so the actual heater doesnt interfear with the readings like regular heaters can.

i guess if i dont try one then ill never know and at the price on ebay at £20 delivered for a 300w its cheaper than most glass heaters.... although after a bit of further research ive discovered a more expensive set up with a digital temperature control box :hey: the only thing is that they have to be purchased seperately totaling about £80 for the controller and 2 heaters :X

Fair point i guess. I am after 2 200W heaters for my tank rather than 1 300W. May look into the titanium models then, but wouldn't fancy justifying the control box to the missus.

this is what ive found -

control box that controls 2 heaters
http://www.h2oaquatics.co.uk/heating-cooling/temperature-controllers/atc-300-2-channel-heater-temperature-controller-with-timer

titanium heaters
http://www.h2oaquatics.co.uk/heating-cooling/heaters/aqua-medic-titanium-heater-300w

the cost is more coming in at £85 roughly but for reliability and the fact that they wont crack burn out or shatter surely its worth it, isnt it.......? 2 x rena 300w heaters would set you back about £60 or so

£60 plus the cost of fish dying if they stick on again

I have never had any issues with the glass heaters, but may look into these when funds allow
