Fluval - Air Filter Control Device?

Hi

I've had my new tank for about 3 weeks now. I have been using an external air pump with an airstone in my tank. But noticed the above as part of my Fuval filter. What is this exactly? Is it a replacement for the external air pump?

Are you talking aout the fluval internal filter?

If so, they have an air flow system which takes air in and pumps it out of the outflow.

So it can be used as a replacement for the external airpump then?

Yeah its an internat filter.
