Hi about 4 month ago I had to treat my tank and had to remove the carbon filters, and I've just remembered that the
3 slots in the filter are empty

I'm looking for recommendation ov what media to use in the empty slots any why, or should I just put some new carbon in

Cheers

I would use biomax in the bottom three, and filter wool in the top one :good:

That's the one mate. It will trap any pieces of dirt that the sponges and biomax let through. I run that combo in both of my 405s and my tank is very clear.

I put my pre filter in the bottom tray then fine wool in the middle then bio max on the top.

:good:

Pre filter????

Surely the filter wool would want to be the last stage no????
Not much left for you bio max to do????

I would buy some Matrix by seachem, the best bio media on the market!

It's the stuff that originally comes with Fluval External filters,
http://www.aquatics-warehouse.co.uk/fluval-pre-filter-750g.html

I thought that trapping the larger waste before the bio max would be best and also keep the bio max cleaner,

(Simular set up in the Fluval U2,3,4's)

Works for me :good:

The pourous media is only designed to use the dissolved organics in the water. So it makes sense for it to be at the end of the filtering process
