Hello!

I gave my 305 a good clean yesterday and ever since it has been emitting a buzzing/huuming noise (it is usually almost silent). I have read that this can be because of air entering the filter, but there are no signs of bubbles escaping from the outlet.

I did remove the impeller to scrub it and I'm wondering if that may be the cause....but I can't figure out how I could have replaced it incorrectly.

any tips/experience with this type of issue?

thanks

Sounds like the ceramic shaft for the impeller is broken. If it is not broken check to make sure the tiny rubber stopper is still on the end of the shaft(I lost mine once without knowing it even existed)It goes on the "down" side of the shaft, and may be stuck down inside the impeller well. When I lost my rubber stopper it made that buzzing noise and soon broke the shaft...Goodluck!

cheers. I did remove that when cleaning so I'll check to see if it's now in a bad position or missing!

my 305 used to do the same - i think air can get into the system quite easily, so i used to rock the canister back and forth gently whilst the filter was running, and that always pushed the rest of the air out of the system, and got it running again silently.
hope it gets sorted soon - i was a big fan of the 305 that i owned.

I found that I had lost the rubber stopper/bung from the impeller shaft so I replaced it (£5.99 for a ceramic stick and micron of rubber!). Sadly this has had no effect on the noise.

I will try the rocking technique to see if I can eliminate it. Cheers for the tip!

did plenty of 'rocking' to try and get rid of it......but no joy.
