Fluval 305 - Am I Being Daft?

I've got my Fluval Roma 240 up and running using the Eheim 2213 filter from my 125L tank.

When I upgraded I got a fluval 305 in with the price and am wanting to move the media over from the 2213.

I bought the foam inserts for the filter but am confused, do I need 2 or 4 foams in the 305.

The instructions are clear as mud and all pictures show only 1 side of the insert.
