hi
my 304 wont fill up on its own anymore , i have to make sure its full before i can put the lid on and start it :/
taps are fully open and pump the pump thing (dont know the name  ) nothing happens.

im guessing some part has broke but i dont know what part

any ideas anyone :hyper:

gotta be the vacuum seal around the top hasnt it?

have you checked the seal and the rubbers where the top connects to the canister?

The problem is the fact it is a fluval. They are awful to restart after maintenance, and I wouldn't be surprised if in a year or so of stopping priming it loses seal completely (just like mine did).

its a fluval we have 3 and they are all a swine to start after maintenance

Priming a fluval a simple guide:

1. Take inlet pipe of
2. Make sure outlet above water line
3. Suck on inlet (But stop before water hits mouth)
4. Reconnect inlet (Bit tricky without spilling water)
5. Done.

lol

But have to say even though can be a pain mine still going strong

I never knew that they had slef primers when i got mine. I had a better idea.

I connected the aqua stop thingy then sucked on the output pipe and it sucks the water down the in pipe then you hear it fill up the tank. Its ok the first time, but quite hard to do when its 6inches under water. Ive only had to do each filter once so far....

I have the same problem with my fluval 204,So this is what i do After maintenence, fill your tank up.Open the water valve so the filter will fill.....Pump like hell on the primer then fill the tank up to the water level of your tank so that the outlet will fill. Then a few more pumps of the primer and i think most importantly keep your fingers crossed and boot the filter up....(sometimes helps to shake the filter to get the trapped air out).
I would not advise sucking on anything like the filter outlet
