Hi,

we are setting up a second cichlid tank, re-using an old Clear Seal 36x12x12" until they outgrow it. We're replacing the undergravel filter with an internal filter, and bought a Fluval 4 Plus online (at a good price). However, now it's arrived, we've found that it's physically too tall to fit inside the tank.

The customer service from this online shop has been dreadful - we've emailed, phoned twice, and they've not got back to us other than to phone and say 'they'll get back to us!' We're thinking of exchanging it for a 3 Plus, but need to make sure that it will fit in the tank before we do so!

Would anyone be able to do us a favour and measure the height of theirs? :)

If the shop continue to be unhelpful, we might try to sell the Fluval 4 Plus (if anyone is interested) and just buy one elsewhere. Does anyone have any other recommendations, or are Fluvals OK?

Hiya jackiejo the Fluval 3 plus is 10.25" in height (260mm). Hope this helps.

I'm pretty sure we've got a 4+ in our 48x12x12...

Its in there diagonally across one end...

The tank is in the shed though and i wouldn't want it like in the a display tank...

Hi,
thanks very much for your replies.

Thanks a lot for the measurments Ian, that's a great help :) I've just had a look & the Fluval 3 will fit perfectly under the lip of the tank.

The Fluval 4 would have fitted if I had it horizontally but it is on display & would have taken up a huge amount of space in the tank.

I've had a Fluval 4 Plus and they are massive. Like having a canister filter in your tank lol. Glad to be of help.
