Fish Fanatic
Hi all,
Thinking of upgrading my Roma 200l from a u4 internal filter to either a fluval 206 or 306 external for better filter capacity. I'm inclined towards the 306 as I'd rather overfilter and have more fish than underfilter but is the 306 overkill? The Roma 240 comes with a 306 so I figured it would be fine. All my tank residents like a current too so no issue with sedate fish disliking the flow.
Water quality isn't a problem for me with the u4 but nitrates get a little high so I feel the external would help me control these as I can clean out the sponges etc to remove nitrate-originating detritus more often and easily without losing half of it back into the water when I move the sponges.
Would a bigger filter allow more fish per gallon etc?
Current residents:
14x panda cory
5x black ruby barb
9x dwarf neon rainbow
9x lemon tetra
Was hoping to get the non-cory shoals to around 10-12 each and/or add a pair of German rams?
Thoughts?
Cheers,
