what pump are u using for a return and approx how high is the it pumped up to the rim of the display? Most pumps will have a head curve to tell you approx flow at different heads... but also need take into account bends in pipes and changes in diameter of pipe (both can cause changes in flow rate due to frictional effects.

If your system is balanced, then the amount of water your pump is pumping should be the amount of flow through your sump (given that you have a refuge inline of your sump and not a center return style sump which you throttle down greatly the flow through the refuge.

water goes into tank- goes thur sump- sump return pump goes in to a T witch goes to the refugium and back to tank!

off the T i have a controll valave to make the flow fast/slow for the refugium

so... does the sump go like this?

from tank -> refugium -> return -> to tank, to refugium?

or do you have a seperate refuge tank that overflows back into the sump?

(on the 2nd page the 1st pic is how my setup is now! )(THIS IS NOW)

o ya... shoulda known that... seen that thread before....my bad gary

could always do the bucket test for volumetric flow... let the return line empty into a container of known volume and time how long it takes to fill... extrapolate to gallons/liters hour if you wish after
