hey, i have gouramis and they love floating plats but.... the neon tetras i have seem to get stuck up there and die.... well i think the reason is the cant get out... but that doesnt seem right... please help

Your saying your neon tetras get stuck in the floating plants and die? That doesn't sound right  . That type of floating plant do you have?
And are these neon tetras new additions to your tank? Neons can be uber-sensitive and most have neon tetra disease......
How long has your tank been set up? :)

i dont know what kind of plants they are, but they are pieces that have just broken off my planted trees,

i have had the tank set up for a few months now, nothing else has died, i do a weekly water change, and i did one yesterday, 4 of them hav died in 3 days

Is there anyway you can temporary place the floating plants in a bucket to eliminate the possibility of the floating plants causing the neons to die?

yeah prolly, i just find it wierd, i thought fish were good of getting out and around plants and things

They are, and I'm sure there's floating plants where neons come from in the wild too  .
My guess is that they are just resting in the plants because they are ill, and then dying.

Are the neons new additions to the tank?
What are your water stats? :)

no they have been in there since the tank got started.

i know i am missing a tester u may be able to tell me which one:

i have water crystals, bioclear, water ager and ph tester.

my PH level is 7.0- 7.2.

oh and just found a dead guppy today, wats going on?

we just recently (2 weeks ago) got a spinny eel loach, its like a worm, black and orange and its supposed to be an algae eater. can u give me more info about this fish. thank you

What are the rest of your water stat's? Nitrite, Amonia and Nitrate? Ph is not really a problem unless your water is excessively acidic or alkaline, I only test mine every month or so, when they re-dose the water with whatever it is that makes it smell and taste foul but apparently makes it safe to drink! Needless to say we don't, we have tanks for our drinking and cooking water.

It kind of sounds like you haven't had the tank very long. Was it fully cycled before you added the fish? If it wasn't that would explain the Neon's dying first, followed by the guppy, which will most likely be followed by the gourami!

i have had other fish in this tank, and they have been fine, the only reason the others died was because they got eaten, but we have gotten rid of the fish that were eating them.... i have to get that nitrate tester, didnt think it was a big deal, have had the tank set up for bout 3 months now, and have not had it. opps!
