I was planning on getting some plants for my 10 gallon aquarium. I was hoping to get floating plants. I already have some plants that look like little tiny water lilys and I was hoping I could go out and by some plants that don't float like a water lily but a plant that hovers right below the water. Does anyone know the names of any plants that fit my description?

It sounds like you have duck weed.
a light green lilly pad shape but allot smaller, about this size 0. It spreads vey quickly, but doesnt like really fast moving water. Just like Like lilly pads dont. :D
You can actually get really small living and flowering lilly pads in england, not sure about where you are.
They are so pretty, and if you got enough light comin in from the top of the tank aswell as the sides, they will live, grow and flower.
Theres also water lettuces, which semi floats. ;)

You could try HORNWORT ( also known as Coontail and Ceratophyllum demersum ) . This plant has no true roots but can be planted or can be left floating. As a floating plant, it provides a great hiding-place for newly hatched fry or young fish. In addition, it's a great oxygenator and helps to combat algae because it consumes nutrients in the water and secretes natural substances that counteract algae. It will grow at relatively low light intensities and can tolerate shade better than most aquatic plants. It will propagate through breaking of the stem.

Ceratopteris floats just below the surface, as you mentioned.

Riccia is a type of plant that is supposed to float, but most people put a net on it to give the tank a carpeting effect. B)  B)
