ok my med size albino cory has developed this fleshy lump growing on his dorsal fin, doesn't seem to affect his health at all but its growing. its teh same color as his skin so i dont think its a disease. he did get mauled by a communitie of female bettas a couple weeks back, besides a few nips and tears he seemed fine, have any of u catfish experts seen anything like this?

taht was kind of helpful but it didn't really help me deside on what this thing is or how i could treat it. the thing appeared seemingly over night and is continuseing to grow, could be an absess of some kind maybe from a previous injurey, but thats not bacterial so im not sure what i can do with it then.. -_-

If you can issolate the fish you can use an anti internal bacteria med, and melafix.

if it worsens ill do just that, but if its not serious i dont want to remove him, every time i remove them from teh community they get very stressed out and wont even eat -_-

Hi GuppyDude :)

It wouldn't hurt to give your tank an extra cleaning and water change. Most of the things that effect corys are bacterial in origin and this will not only help him, but reduce the chances of your other fish having the same problem. It pays to be on the safe side with this kind of thing.

You could also add MelaFix to the tank without causing harm. It's a very mild anti bacterial that sometimes helps. If it looks like something that might burst, it would be better to isolate him if possible to prevent the spread of harmful bacteria.

Good luck. I hope he recovers soon.

yes melafix is my best friend, ill do that. it appears to be one of his rays -_- , do rays grow back in corys like the rest of the fin? its pretty nasty looking and hes looking a bot under the weather, isolateing him would make it worse, he dont liek being away from his girly :D has anyone had success with removeing stuff liek this surgically as a last resort?

Hi GuppyDude :)

Does it look like something that would have pus in it, or does it seem more solid?

its kind of white, could be either, ill take him out tonight and check it, hes eating now thogh, dont wanna runin his favorite time of the day :D

Treat with an internal bacteria med, and some melafix in the tank, don't want the puss infecting the others, that's why it's best to issolate the fish, good luck.
