Flashing Since Water Change

Thats interesting. I was thinking of getting the API stress coat to try out (was thinking about it already before this happened).

Am I better off sticking with Nutrafin (I think I've got Aqua Plus)? I've looked into prime but I prefer to buy a big container that last longer, Prime seems really expensive for the size.

Prime is available in bottles upto 4 litres in size, I won a 4l bottle on Ebay just before the Seachem pricing fiasco kicked off here in the UK for £46. This bottle will last me until at least this time next year, even with upto 6 tanks running (3 >200l), because only 5ml of Prime is normally needed per 200l of new water.

You will be using something like 5ml of Nutrafin Aqua Plus for every small bucket of new water.

As regards the flashing after the water change, more than likely it is simply the new water and the dechlorinator in it, if so the flashing ought to stop within 24 hours. Some fish are more sensitive than others, my Beckford Pencilfish flash if I use excess Prime in the new water, while my Hageni Halfbeaks can only get ~10% water changes on any given day because they are really sensitive to changes in water chemistry (even acclimitising them from the shop meant I had to puncture their fish bag to let water diffuse over a couple of hours before releasing them).

Sorry to jump into your post but what is "flashing"?

Flashing is when a fish approaches something, like a leaf, ornament, gravel and does a quick, flick.. sort of rubs their side on the object in a super fast movement.
