Recently I've noticed several of my platies flashing on the leaves of plants. They approach the plant, hover near it, then zip off the leaf. They are not doing it on the driftwood, rock or gravel. All fish seem fine - they are always hungry and chasing each other. They "peck" at the gravel and plants looking for food. No fin clamping or any other physical symptoms - I checked for velvet.

All water parameters are fine - tank has been established for about a year. New additions include plants only.

Should I worry? Should I treat?

Thanks,
Angel

hi there angelbettas

can you just check there are no white specks or other symptoms of ich on the fish....however.....

......my guppies do that sometimes when the nitrates have got a little high .......I generally do more frequent water changes for a few days.......and - I check to see if there are any dead plant leaves or buildup of gunge under the ugf. The gupps have always been fine and the flashing stopped after a few days of the heavier w/changes.

....and then sometimes they just seem to do a community flash.....one does it and the rest follow  .....then they stop :D ..think they do it just to make me worry
