Flash!

it probably does since fish don't really have eyelids

i guess a close-up shot will hurt them

I doubt it. I photograph my bettas at close range with the flash on all the time and they usually don't even miss a beat in begging me for food, though some do flare at the camera

i took a pic of our fish the other day, just to see what it looked like.. needless to say didn't realise i'd left the flash on .. paniced a little.. unnecessarily, no one even seemed to care, they just carried on swimming around quite happily! although the pic wasn't all that great, as the fishes eyes reflect the light back really badly, and makes them appear a little scary

I wouldnt think it would be a big problem...I cant imagine thy 'like' it which is why in sea life centers and stuff they dont let you use flash but thats probably more for the deep sea fish rather than fresh water.

proberbly the same as us when someone takes a pic with a flash our natural reaction is to blink or look away cos it hurts when you look straight at the flash
