Flaring is when the males spread their fins to their fullest and have gill plate (?) emerge to make their face look bigger. Males do it more often than females, and usually when they either see another male or a reflection of themselves in glass.
My 4 year old elder I only flare for about 5 minutes a day,
My crown tail ignores his reflection, so today I tried putting him in the 30 gallon to see how he did with the females, (Closely monitoring at all times) and He flared and my girl Flame flared and it was all gravy. XD
Arsenic and Cyanide I usually flare for about 10 minutes each.
