Flake Food

I think that if your betta is in a smaller unfiltered tank, feeding pellets is probably the best option. Flake food tends to break up as the fish eats resulting in uneaten food fouling the water quicker, unlike pellets that dont break up :good:

My endlers completely ignore flake food unless it goes past there face :( still keep feeding them it though as the snails and shrimp clear up the mess and they go crazy for daphnia for some reason.

Flake food isn't very nutritious to bettas, so even if they like it it's not good to feed, plus it tends to cloud the water and sink quickly if uneaten.

Pellets are better and stay afloat longer. Frozen bloodworms, daphnia, and brine shrimp are great, and sometimes live blackworms or brine shrimp.

if your flakes are sinking before eaten, you are feeding too much!
but i agree it should not make up the whole (or even majority) of their diet.
as a wise man once said....variety are the spice of life! same goes for you fish!!!

Think of him like a little kid that doesn't want to eat his veggies. You just have to force the issue. Pellets are usually accepted more readily, especially those made by hikari specifically for bettas. I've rarely had a betta turn its nose up at those for very long.
