Hi guys. I have been looking at a few other forums and have noticed that generally all other forums say that you are cycled when you ammonia drops from 5ppm to 0 in 24 hours? I thought it was 12?

12 hours is safer than 24.

Okay thanks! Just to let you know your mature media is going great it has really helped. As soon as I put it in my cycle took off like a rocket!

Oh, that's great, glad it's done well for you :)

Mature media really does make a world of difference, if only LFS's would sell that rather than bacteria in a bottle!

Tell me about it! It's all money now though - they know people will buy fish again and again if they keep dieing. Sad.

+1...after I did a fishless cycle on my 40 gallon, I consistently use it to develop media for my smaller tanks. I just put together a 10 gallon betta tank and took about 1/4 of the mature media from my 40gallon to cycle it. I did splurge and add some more fish though hehe.....my betta seems to like swimming with my little school of rasboras lol...but i am watching out for ammonia spikes :p
