Fishless cycling question....again

We just added the ammonia to start the cycling, but apparently went a bit overboard and got 8ppm instead of 5ppm. What do we do now!!

When I fishless cycled, I added too much amonia on the first go round. I just kept adding amonia every day until I got a nitrite spike. I added a little less than what I added the first day. My tank cycled. Your tank should cycle even though you added too much amonia.

In addition, you could also empty the tank of water and start over.

I agree with njnauticalnut that you should keep adding the ammonia and everything should be fine. You will just get a higher and longer ammonia and nitrite spike. If you wish you could reduce the amount a bit and it wont affect anything either. Good Luck with the cycle.
