If it takes 4ml of ammonia to get around 5ppm ammonia, do i add enough the next day to take it back up to 5ppm or just add 4ml everyday till i get a nitrite reading? i dont understand, people say different things!!
:/

you will get told different things again here, but thats how i do it.

add that amount everyday (regardless of readings) untill your nitrite spikes, then add half that ammount until zero nitrite.

if you follow it that way you will have a very well cycled tank with a huge colony of benificial bacteria allowing you to fully stock your tank..no problem.

try to seed the tank too if possible with some substrate ,filter media or plants from a disease free established tank

thats the way I'm currently doing it too...I'm following the instructions on this website, that I found during all my researching.

oops, have one more question, when i eventually get my cycle done. If my tap contains a little ammonia wil there be any problems when im doing water changes? or will the bacteria be enough to eat it all up?
thx
