Fish With Legs

I don't think it's very weird at all, I think it's quite a looker :hey: :lol:

Is another name for it a "Sea Robin"? That's what I thought they were called.

The fish in the picture is indeed a Gurnard, a summer visitor to British shores but much more commonly found in the warm mediteranian seas. The legs are modified ventril fins which they use to "hop" from place to place on the bottom in their search for small fish and inverts to eat.

i've got some goldfish
i've got some guppies
well i've got fish with LEGS

they were very creepy, they really walk with those modified little ventrals, the way they move them, they were like little aliens!

i live a 20 minute walk from london zoo, i'll definately be going back to oogle them soon!
 
I've seen these on a nature show before, very cool movement.
 
Some of the Goby family "walk" on their front fins.
