I still can't visual a pond indoors! You will have to take a picture and post it once you've done it!

A pond seems a lot of work indoors to me though, still can't see how you won't kick stuff into it, or even just dust from the floor. Wouldn't something like this be a lot easier? And you could actually see fish from the side as well.

or incorporate a tank in the bottom of a glass coffee table? obv it would need air channels, but i've always wanted a coffee table with fish in, i'd be mega jealous!

It's a big bucket! This is nothing grand I'm afraid :)

I have seen a pond made inside a house , the person had used the wall area at the top of their stairs that acted as a sort of divider/ ballistrade to the living room on the second floor of their house, it was basically a narrow pond but did not have glass sides like a tank and the fish could only be viewed from the top.
I have also seen a pond on the ground floor of a house that basically went under the glass panaled wall of the house giving the fish a sheltered indoor part of the pond as well as an outdoor part.

For fish that look good from the top, a lot of fancy guppies have amazing colour along their backs, the neon type guppies would be the best that spring to mind. Some where on here there are pictures of Luwig Venter's guppies that he had in a pond some really amazing blues.

Also I would advise on some sort of filter over large frequent water changes, water changes can be stressful enough for some fish without having to do them more frequently than necessary. Plus water is fast becoming a valuable comoditity (heck most councils charge enough for the privillage of having clean running water), so I would think that every second day large water changes are going to drastically raise any water bills you have, as will the extra cost of buying more declorinator and other such things to make the water fish safe/friendly. I see that you said that it probably will end up with a filter, and I hope it does, no need to make the hobby more expensive than it already is
