My daughter has guppies, she loves them, they're permanently dropping babies...You should have seen my other half's face when my daughter came running into the bedroom one morning shouting, she had babies  they bread like.. well like Guppies really...Horney little devils

I'd agree with the Tetra's, I've never had much luck with those either

Breed like rabbits, not called the million livebearer fish for nothing.

i stay away from shoaling fish like danios and tetras because i don't find them that pretty or to have much personality. most cichlids are a different matter, but i also like barbs (notable exception being the tiger barb).

Not a big fan of danios. Had some Glowlight Danios a while back because my partner wanted some but I never really liked them.

serpea tetras,Little nipping *&%@#~% lol.

personally i dont think any fish isnt worth buying if you want it and can look after it well, saying that, i tent to stay away from either large fish or ones that need live food(feed fish, etc) as i would feel guilty placing a living animal into an area wheres its going to be lunch.i have always had good luck with tetras and livebearers.

Anything that ain't saltwater  Just kidding.

I'm not too fond of cyprinids in general, though I don't hate them; but it just seems to me that there are plenty of better fish out there. Characins (Tetras) tend to fall in this catagory with me, too; unless they are something truly unusual or super-aggressive (Rhombeus Piranhas  ).

I like this statement: "The secret to being ugly is to be uninteresting".... it certainly applies to some fish.

Dwarf Gouramis...they all seem to have that dwarf gourami virus around here  . I've tried them twice in the past and both times they died within a few days.
Luckily, the lfs I work at had a lonely female left over that had been in a tank with tiger barbs for at least 2 months, so I know she's healthy.
I've had her for about two weeks now and I love her to bits, though she can get a bit too friendly with the tetras in my tank and is now missing most of her feeler things  .
Guppies(males) always died for me too, they are so inbred and I'm guessing my soft slightly acidic water never helped. I may try some females though, since they tend to be hardier, and the ones at my work are used to soft water. I now personally prefer the look of the females too.
I may also try a shoal of neons soon though, the only time i've tried them the past I've never had much luck with them because my goldfish ate them (years ago when I went by what the lfs told me) :X  .

Yeah dwarf gouramis, tiger barbs, chinese algae eaters/sucking loaches, anything that eats live fish.

hatchet fish

Both the silver and marbled variety, However tight I keep my condensation tray on they always find a gap somewhere, got home the other day to find 3 shrivelled up bello my lights :(. 'n they're not cheap either

I persevered with the guppies - even though the shop bought ones never lived more than a few months - and now have all sturdy home grown ones (and yes - "millions" of babies). The colour combinations are a bit strange, though!

Dwarf gouramis I gave up on - they all seem to look so ropey in the lfs and I was really upset when my two died after a few days

And male platys - I'd never get any more of them (although - if everyone thought that - there wouldn't be any more lovely placid girls either :p )

Stripped peacock eels in particular are getting pretty high on my list

This Is going to be like... my third lost to anorexia.... I don't get it. My other pecock (normal), on of my striped, and my half band all seem to be doing great.

Kuhli loaches. I mean, they're so cute and funny and quirky, but I never SEE them! D:
