Fish Tank Set Up

this was good friendly advice, you didnt have to pay for it, yet your response was to be petulant as were other posts to other people. Lets wipe the slate clean and all be happy bunnies.

Thanks guys and actually nice to know there are some supportive people on this forum

Tizer strikes me as a decent bloke, and knows his stuff
when it comes to fishkeeping. His advice is worth listening to.
Yes ok i have listened i have took in all the info everyone gave me today and i appreciate that but his last few posts have been uncalled for and i think you can agree with that and if not then i think i know who the real kids are here no disrespect to you or tizer

Ok ill admit i got a little frustrated as my question wasnt been answered then because of my age you all think i seem to not know anything about keeping fish! I already knew before i joined this forum the plec was too big for the tank but since its a clean slate do any of you guys know a lot about black ruby barbs?

As well i dont think my responses to tizer cause he was the one that was pi****g me off was entirely my fault ive accepted your criticisms but yet you still tried to question my ability which i may not be the best fish keeper in the world but so what so i do not accept your comment about me being petulant to you and others
Again im not trying to disrespect people im truly grateful for your advice so i thank you for that all of you but im not the only one who has been petulant

Take it you dont know anything about black rubies then lol kk just wanted to know when my black rubies change colour i know when they start breeding
So when do they start breeding? The tank conditions have to be 100% precise like right temperature ph etc

i dont understand the question.

"just wanted to know when my black rubies change colour i know when they start breeding "

Are you asking here that when they change colour, you know they are going to start breeding? or are you asking, if they change colour will they start breeding?

"The tank conditions have to be 100% precise like right temperature ph etc "

Are you telling us the tank conditions need to be 100% precise, or are you asking what are the ideal conditions actually are?

Its very hard to understand when you use broken English with no punctuation.

How old are the fish? It might help a little bit to guess how mature they actually are.

Sorry my mum was talking to me at the same time ill rephrase it when do my black rubies change colour ?
I know its when they breed but do they change colour with age as well ?
And how do i get them to breed ? Do the tank conditions have to be 120% [ :) ] correct like ph and so on

Im not sure about age and its only because im on my ipod it takes the mick and it would take me twice as long to type

I bought them 2 weeks ago so i really dont know but 2 of them have a nice ruby colour but their bodies are still silvery with stripes

most fish colour up when they are spawning yes, black ruby barbs tend to zoom around the tank a lot when in breeding mode, unfortunately the size of your tank might put them off a little bit as they cannot "stretch their legs" so to speak. Ideally you would put some moss in the tank, maybe wrapped around your coconut cave then do a cool water change before going to bed, then they "might" spawn the next day. you could also buy a spawning mop if you wanted to save the eggs, because again, in a tank that size, they will simply eat them all within an hour of laying them. In a bigger tank they might last a little longer as fish are generally quite stupid and will swim away from the eggs for longer periods. Spawning mops are easier to remove and place in another tank. Again, it depends how old they are and if they feel happy breeding. I suppose you probably dont know the sex of the fish in there being young...good chance of not actually having a mix of sexes.

edit : if only purchased 2 weeks ago, good chance of them not breeding for a good 8 months or more and by all accounts, not one of the easiest barbs to breed either.

Ok thanks im sure 2 are males i was thinking of setting up a breeding tank but i can only have 15 gallon max which is too small
Oh i would love them to breed but if not im not fussed i just would love to see them change colour
