hi! a couple weeks ago i told u of my holding cichlid well i checked on her this morning and she was still preggers i been checkin on her the last few days and was even going to try n get her in the breeding box (shes clever and i hate stressing her) well i go to feed tonight and sure enough i see her at the front of the tank with the other 8 cichlids.(something she hasnt been bothered to do while holding) so i knew right away. I looked at her throat and sure enough the tell tale signs of holding were now all but gone. SO my question is: do u think ANY fry would have any chance of survival in a 45 gallon tank with 9 cichlids? How small should they be if i were to try and see them? Is this an impossible task?

thanks in advance!

Hi they might have survived. If youve got a lot of rockwork in the tank with plenty of hiding spaces they have a good chance. Mine bred a while back and i thought id lost all the fry but a few weeks later two popped out of nowhere. Even tho i searched the tank for them when the mother spat. They wont be so small you cant see but can take a lot of looking for. From my experience they tend to head for the pits the fish dig at the bottome of the tank. Good luck.

Nope, if they can hide from the other fish your vac doesn't stand a chance!
