Check it out, wouldn't this just be perfect for bettas??? I know what I'm asking Santa for this year :shifty:
Fish School

Look in the photos section, there are even little videos of the goldfish performing his tricks! :hyper:

Good Lord! Next thing you know, there will be a Hermit crab training video! Or a snail training one! Such silliness!

Waste of time...But I guess if you were trying to make a living...hmhm.....the betta hoop would be ok.

 Like most ppl have time to train fish to do tricks. Good grief. A fish will generally only do something it would do naturally anyway, like most animals. Ollie likes to leap clear out of the water sometimes when having brekkies or supper (Not an easy task with that finnage!) but never does so at any other time, nor would I try and force him into it. Some of my fish will let me hold them or pick them up by hand (And they stay perfectly still)(Only if needing to move them of course) simply because they find it less stressful then a net, but, again, I'd never force it upon them. But I don't see any harm in it. After all it's no different to training a dog or horse etc. What we need is a way to train our catfish to walk on their tails like dolphins. [/jk]

I think if you had the time to devote to it (I mean come on..15-30 min a day is too mcuh time to spend on your fish?) that it would be great mental and physical stimulation for the fish.

But then again...alot of people won't even take the time to teach their dogs to sit/stay/come/lay/off either...so I doubt you'll have to many people training their fish to play basketball.

I think that is totally cute though. How much is it..I only saw the price for the book (7.99), is it expensive?

It's an e-book just under $8. :/ Not overly costly really and no, I easily spend that sorta time with my Ollie every day. Trouble is I do so with all my other fish too and that time adds up. :*)
On the other hand, does one really need a book to tell them these things? Surely if we spend time with our bettas anyway then we'll get to know them on a very personal level and know what they will and won't enjoy and they will learn by interacting with you anyway. Ollie will now pose for photos, which truly is amusing.

...I already spend at least that much time on mine every day
It takes me around 10 minutes just to feed everybody, what with all the different diets mine require... then there's the betta juvies, etc.

The actual set (hoop, soccer goal, etc) is $19.95. I'd never buy it myself, but hey, it would be a good Christmas present :p
