Fish Rubbing Gills On Gravel - Help Please!

Do you know if Sterazin is safe for use on cichlids and upside down catfish or should I use the other formula Waterlife PARAGON?

I see that this is a med in the UK. Is there a US version of this med?

Sterazin is perfectly safe for cichlids and upsidedown catfish; it's only 'scaleless' fishes, like loaches, that you have to be cautious with meds.

As far as I know Sterazin is available in the US as well as the UK.

How can I tell what my fish have if they are rubbing against the gravel, etc.? There are no outward signs of anything that I can see. We had problems with high ammonia a couple weeks ago but that is now under control. Could they still be recovering from the ammonia or is it something else? I treated the tank with Quick Cure and salt prior to the ammonia problems. Should I treat it again??

Hi guys. Quick update:

I've been constantly staring at the fish tank the last couple of days to observe any changes. ( If my fish could get me done for stalking I think they would.....

)
Anyways, I think it is what Minnnt said and just an irritation due to ammonia. They don't flick themselves of the gravel any more. I have noticed it only once since and that was right before a water change as the ammonia was high again....afterwards they seemed fine. So thanks again for all your help guys. I will continue stalking them tho....just in case

SO all you have to do is work out why your Ammonia might be high.

Can your filter cope with your current colleciton of fish?
