Fish Recommendation

IMHO you can't beat a nice Bristlenose Plec - might not be as big as you want, but prob won't outgrow your tank.

Oh and PEAS! Can't recommend them enough. Use the shelled variety, boil 'em, cool 'em then tak the outer shells off. Great for fishy constipation! oh and avoid cucumber - not enough nutrients - go for zucchini / courgette instead

Do Siamese algae eater eat algae of glass or just plants, rocks, wood etc ?

Im looking for one that will eat algae from glass.

Cheers LP

You can get some hillstream loaches too. They clean my tank from algea :p

Ahh yeh, seen these before good looking fish. What do they recommend group size ?

They are more of a solo-type of fish but of course the more the merrier :p

Cheers.

1 more question other than algea what would you recommend to feed them, algae wafers ?

Never tried that, too expensive where I live :p
Cucumber or other vegetable works fine :D

Cheers.

How do I identify which one is a cucumber and a zucchini

Bought 2 Hillstream Loaches (Sewellia lineolata) last night.

Here is a pic of one of them in my tank.

Hillstreams like a slightly cooler temperature. Probably a few degrees less than standard tropical temps.

Those Siamese Algae Eaters......I went to my LFS and took back my Bulldog Plec (another idea but they eat plants) because it was detroying my plants. So the chap there suggested a small group of SAE. Didn't really like them, but got them to eat the algae. Well in my tank, they just nibbled on the algae, didn't make much inroads. I decided that I would rather replace them with some I like.
Well I can honestly say they are the most difficult fish I have ever had to catch. They were so fast. I destroyed my planting and traumatised my other fish trying to get them out and it took me over 2 hours to catch the 5.
I was not happy.

Temp is currently at 24-25 i will be keeping my eye on them.

A Cichlid or two, not many 'individual' other fish around that instantly come to my mind (for the middle to top of course). A Keyhole/Festive Cichlid pair would look nice and wouldn't be overly aggressive to other fish.

Good Luck with you tank,

ooh i do like the look of those cichlids! especially the keyholes!

Lovely fish and great to sit and watch. Makes a change to normal swimmers with them scuttling around the glass, slate and wood.
