One of the UKs largest fish shops, British Aquatic Superstore (BAS) has no fire eels :(
They have some OK dats, but no wide bars, and theyre not even sure if theyve got any peacock eels :/
So i dont know what to do....I want to get some fish in, and get it all going, but al this stuffs just kinda annoying. The LFS has those "rubber eels" which i still dont know what they are, and another store has a tire track and some senegal bichirs, but nothing that i really want....
Anyone have any other things i could look for???

Thanks alot, depressed Mikey

Patience my friend, wait for the fish that you really want and eventually they will turn up. If you stock your tanks with fish that you quite like but dont like as much as the others you will just feel bad when the ones you really want turn up and you have no space for them.

According to the database at Tropical Fish Finder, the following stores have fire eels:

Wholesale Tropicals, London
Fishy Friends Aquatics, Essex
Koi & Co, West Sussex
Fintasia Aquatics, Durham
Wildwoods, Middlesex
Dartford Aquatics, Kent

Any of those local for you? As always, give the store a ring beforehand to see that they still have the beastie in stock. Have a rummage around the database at Tropical Fish Finder for any of the other fish you're after. It doesn't cover every store, but it's a good place to start.

Cheers,

Neale

No, none of those are near to me, thanks though, i might have a look for some shops near to me...
Very ture CFC. You waited 5yrs for a fish you were after didnt you???
Still not entirely sure what to stock though really....Id like a fire eel, just cos they look great, and they seem to be interesting, but im kinda stuck there...Id like some pims, like the ornates, but they also get too big, and i dont know if anyone would want them after they grow too big...Same with the Dats -_-
Ill probably go somewhere that i know to have a good selection, and choose something/s i like. Allthough i should probably have some sort of plan

Thanks for the help. Mikey

EDIT: Just seen the wholesale advert on tropical fish finder, and says they can send them over night, think that could be an option if i cant get one from a shop up here?

if they are in those 6 shops, a wholesaler somewhere must have them.

Have you asked your lfs to get them in - most have a list of fish that they can order - but don't do unless you ask for them

I used to get many of my fish that way

Yeah, thats worth a try, thanks 4ft :good:
Ive rang about 6-8 shops, and only one has one in, and its 18", so far too big for my tank...I might try to get one ordered in, but im abit skeptical...
I dont know how much Wholesale Tropicals cost to post, but if i could get a Datnioides microlepis, and the fire eel, then it might be worth it, as no where round here has them either.

Mikey

EDIT: Ok, well i just phoned a shop in manchester (about an hour away) and they have some 4" fire eels in stock :hyper: I might be able to get them tonight, all though i doubt i could get there by 7pm....
Im very happy

You think? Im gonna try and get one, but unfortunately, they havent got any siamese tigers, so might have to go to BAS aswell...Anything else i could stock if i see it when im there?

Mikey

EDIT: ive though of a couple cool catfish, which should be compatable...Im thinking hoplos, upside downs (allthough abit small???) and dwarf giraffe cats...Also, would a shoal of larger tetras(like bleeding heart) be ok??? That might be pushing it i surrpose...
