Hi ok is there a way to set up a small fish pond on my porch I live in a apartment and I would really like to get one anybody have any suggestions????

Certainly possible as long as your porch is strong enough to hold a pond. But I presume it is as it hold people  . You could use a preformed liner or a vat theres several options but nothing stopping you. :)

well I live downstairs so I know weight is not an issue is there a site I go to tell me how to do everything for it?????

Well what is the porch made out of? The easiest option is probably to build a brick pond and put a preformed liner in surronded by sand.

I can't recall any sites that would directly help, but I'll have a look around.

hey would one of those big rubbermaid containers work you know the gig long ones I use them for toy boxes??? just a thought and build a box around it and you really wouldn't see the container and paint it and decorate with rocks and flowerson the wooden box ????

A concrete base is the best option, if it is solid concrete then you can just build on top of it. You can either build a raised pond and use liner to mold the shape you want or the preformed ponds are an option. Bribones has built as raised pond in this thread - http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=77532&st=0 if you scan through the post theres some helpful information and it will probably give you some ideas, although you may not want to build a pond on that scale?

Could be a good idea, do you know the size, possible pictures? Just to be sure I would use some liner in it if you want to keep fish but otherwise it sounds like a good idea. :)

its about 2 1/2 feet long and about 18 inches wide hows that sound????and about 18 inches deep

That means it will hold -

Tank Capacity:
Litres: 159.28
US Gallons: 42.08
UK Gallons: 35.04

So if you line it with some simple butyl liner you can keep some smaller fish species like a couple of Goldifish or other species like Golden Minnows and Golden Rudd.

Why not try this? Its easy to store when your not using it, and it comes in 2 different sizes. I'm going to be getting the 28 gallon one sometime soon, and stocking it with livebearers. It comes with a areator, but no filter. As long as you plant it heavily and stock it lightly you won't need a filter though.

I was looking at those pop up ponds a couple of weeks ago, you can get them clear to so you can see through the sides

i'm sort of in the process of making a little pond for my porch. i myself settled for a rubbermaid tote and now upon reading this thread, i think i've found out how to make it look nicer= brick!

the pop-up pond is cool. but just remember to see if your porch is level before buying it. i made that mistake so one side of the pond filled higher than the other. the unbalance causes your pond to collapse inward. it looked nice while it lasted though.

gluck,
