Hi,
My brother came down today and decided I was to be his 4 Sterbais Cory's new mummy! Lovely for me as I have recently lost 4 of mine (ironically) as I seemingly bought a bad batch and they all got wiped out, developing huge holes in different places before dying
Anyway! After realeasing them into my tank and watching to see if they mingled with my 2 remaining Sterbais I noticed that one has no right fin! He seems to be. Good size, as big as my fully grown adult Sterbai, but I dont know how long my brother has had them so couldn't say how old it is. He doesn't seem to be phased by his disability but I just wondered a few things:
Can fish survive normally with missing fins?
Does it reduce their life expectancy?
Are they more susceptible to disease?
Will it grow back like a tail fin would?
My brother will be getting rid of his tank shortly as his bigger fish have all died now over time and he is moving house and doesn't want the bother of the tank. I have first pick over his remaining fish and really want his Pentazone barbs. I was wondering also wether these are compatible with Angels, Rams and Gouramis? He says they are perfectly peaceful and stick to their own little corner but he only had a Betta as his most aggressive fish so just wanted to make sure before I adopt them
Thanks.
