Ive just lost two fish, i only have a biorb up and running at the moment, cycled with two tiger barbs took 4 weeks intoduced two green tiger barbs last week, this morning they were fine i looked in the tank a little later 1 tiger barb alive just but upside down on the bottom managing to move around but not far left it for a while but felt guilty so i put it to sleep, just noticed 1 of the green barbs is doing the same, i have tried to look for disease cant see any thing i did notice that they both seemed to have developed a red bit on thier nose.
i dont have any water readings at the moment took a sample to my local aquatic store on monday readings where fine, does any body have any ideas what the problem is

And ammonia, Nitrite, and nitrAte are zero? (exluding the nitrate)

I agree with cardboard, you need to get your water re-tested.

Besides water stats, what is the temperature in your tank? Is there any chance a pollutant got into the water? How big is your tank and what fish are in it?

its a bio orb.... they have a small surface area - are they gasping for air?

if so add an air pump and stone asap ;)

BIo-orb?... kind of alot of fish for such a small thing.. and should it not have an air stone? I would immagine it is an UGF.. No?

EDIT: I jsut looked them up.. I would say the slow gph coudl be the problem.. too many fish.. add a air stone to make the filter work alot faster..

water temp 26
no pollutant could have got in there i dont have small kids around so i can be pretty sure on that
no they werent gasping for air
the tank holds 30 litres i think thats 7 gallon i thought 4 barbs would have been fine

Did anything get sprayed in the area? Such as a cleaning chemical?

For right now, do an immediate partial water change, as something in there is most likely causing this problem. If it is an illness, it has progressed too far for meds to be useful. Also, you really need to get your water tested.

As for the 4 tiger barbs in a 7 gal tank, that is way too small. The usual recomendation is a minimum of 20-30 gallons (the larer the better).

Just an update, pets at home said that the barbs would be fine, since finding a new lfs( natural world ) i realise i have been misinformed, i have now lost all fish took them to N.W and some of my water which was fine, they did a scrape of fish had they had white spot which i did notice later on in the night so i turned temp up but to late to save the remaing 2, it was amazing to see the white spot under the microscope i thought it was a fungus not a parasite, at least i have learned a couple of things and one of them is not to use pets at home again,
thanks for all your help
