LOL Tizer! :p

I actually love doing what you call "women's work", especially if I get some appreciation in return! ;)

If you find it hard feeding small bottom dwellers such as African Dwarf Frogs try using a 10ml pipette to feed them directly. Also small snap bags come in really handy and you can get about 100 of them for a £1. I usually put half a block of frozen bloodworm into a snap bag then add a bit of tank water let the bloodworm thaw out then suck up the bloodworm into the pipette and feed the ADF's directly. Job done :good:

Just thought of another one I use. If you feed your fish pelleted food and find that you end up over feeding them or that all the pellets sink to the bottom before they get chance to eat them then I just put the pellets into a snap bag (usually bloodworm, daphnia or brine shrimp pellets) and put the snap bag onto a hard flat surface then put a cloth or sock over the snap bag with the pellets in hit it with a mallet or if not then a hammer. After a few good whacks your bag of pellets should now be a bag of fine granules suitable to feed all of your fish rather than just the bottom dwellers.

oh n just in case anyone's wondering what the sock/cloth is for it's so you don't split the bag when you hit it with the mallet and end up covered in fish food granules

Keep you fish food tub away from the tank opening, quite a few times i've nearly knocked the whole thing in.

This newbie appreciates all the great tips in this thread!

I did know the handwashing and keeping fishy towels tips, but have learned a whole lot from this thread!

Thanks all! :)

Then it is already meeting its objective!

Don't get fish that will outgrow your tank with the "plan" that you will upgrade when they need it. You never know where you'll be or what your financial situation may be years from now.

Buy a few different size nets. If you're not moving your rocks or caves, it may be easier to target the fish with a smaller net rather than using a huge net and taking out everything but the fish you are trying to get.

having a tough time getting frozen food out of the blister packs? Run a little cold water over the back of the pack - they will slide out much easier.
