It’s a pretty small aquarium you have about 27 litres or 6 UK gallons so it should only have about a combined 20cm body length of fish. That’s about 4 fish of the size you have at most. If it has just been set up a month then it may not be cycled also, meaning there may be nitrite or ammonia poisoning the fish. I would do a water change, take out about a quarter of the old water and put in new water that has been treated to remove chlorine. I am sorry but it would be very hard to keep that number of fish alive in a tank that size. I doubt very much the fish died of hunger. You would see them get thin and weak first. I am afraid that more fish will die if you dont get them a bigger tank or take some back to the shop

thanks liam 4 yr reply, my lfs said i could have bout 12 fish in there at the most and also said it would only need a couple of days to cycled throw, but y r they startin to die now? a month l8er? al my fish look pretty healthy x

sara my best advice would be to buy a larger tank if possible if not possible return some of the fish, you could probably buy a nice set up with filter gravel and heater for $100 for about a 10-20 gallon depends where you live.

If you decide to listen to lfs advice, go home and verify the info first. Some do give good advice but I think you will find out soon that a lot of them are profit driven, so of course they would rather you overstock, its sad but true.
These guys would sell you a hippo to put in a tank if they could.

Many LFS give the wrong advice. They just want you to buy more fish. There's no way you could fit 12 fish in a tank that size and it takes way more than a few days to cycle a tank from the beginning. I agree with buying a larger tank. It is easier to start with a larger tank than a small one.

I would guess this is because your tank has now reached the nitrite stage of cycling, and nitrites can cause a lot of damage. Test the water and be prepared to do frequent water changes. Another possiblity is that it is a little further along the line and it's the nitrates that are really high- most of your fish are probably able to cope with that but not the pandas, which are known to be quite sensitive anyway, and are only recommended for a mature tank, i.e. one that has been running for 6 months or so without any problems.
