I have a 37 gallon tank with 7 neon tetras 2 spotted cory catfish and 3 guppies one male 2 female.

It has been fully cycled and i have one female guppy which is acting sick,

this problem has just come to my attention today.

The female guppy i noticed was getting harassed by the male which is expected since yesterday i dont think this has anything to do with it but i just wanted to put it out there.

My female guppy is laying on the bottom of the tank in the gravel. She has a slight discoloration by her upper back if that makes any since. It is slightly white.

Should I be worried? I know she cant be pregnant and she looks young not very large guppy yet.

please give me some advice if u have had this happen.

Guppies can only be a few months old to be old enough to mate.

Do you have the stats for your tank, and how long has it been setup.

How often do you do water changes

One of my female guppies was gravid, and was resting on the floor and the males kept harrasing her (I had around 6 females and 4 Males), so I added a few of the older Female Fry (From Xmas time)and they left her alone. She also had a few white patches, which have now healed.

I do not have the stats on my aquarium as i cannot afford ot buy all the test kits.

My tank has been up and running for about a month i have had it tested and i put the biological stuff in for the bacteria also.

I finally just now got her in my net and put her in an iso plastic tank... aka my breeding trap. I removed the fry thing so now she has more room to swim. was this a bad idea? I thought maybe i should separate her and allow her some time to heal? or will this stress her even more?

Up and running for a month? So it's not cycled yet most likely. What "biological stuff" for the bacteria? If this is something that comes in a bottle and sold to cycle your tank, you paid good money for a useless product.

Take her out of the net, do at least a 75% water change using Stress Coat or Seachem Prim as your dechlorinator and make sure the water temp is close to what's in the tank.

Click on the link below my sig and read up on fish-in cycling.

It sounds like columnaris bacterial infection. I've lost 5 female guppies to this in the last month. They all started with faded white/beige patches (saddles) near the dorsal which progressed down their side. It turned into ulcers or paralysis and eventually death. She needs to be quaranteened as columnaris is contagious. Treat with a combination of Maracyn and Maracyn two, and add aquarium salt. Keep an eye on your other fish, particularly female guppies who seem particularly susceptible. Good luck.

So sorry she passed. If you can get some medication going soon, you might be able to ward off any more deaths.

a Neon tetra also died this morning found it sucked onto the filter. other 6 seem to be doing good.

just a weird occurrence? or something else. going to have the water tested when i put up my new tetra today from petco.
