my tank, yes i got gold fish in there, and so far, they are doing pretty good, i didnt do any ammonia, but i think the nitrifying bacteria worked, because the comet goldfish is doing good, they sleep, eat, play tag and stays in group from time to time

but im wondering what else do i need?

i got filter, heater, top, lights, red and blue gravel(adding blue gravel when im cleaning tank next week)

other then that, you think im done and have a nice tank or missing alot?

You need to buy a test kit.

I would suggest the API Freshwater Master Test Kit.

What type of bacteria product did you buy?

Unless it is Bio Spira, which it isn't because that has been discontinued a couple years ago, than the "Nitrifying" bacteria product you bought is probably rubbish.

You can't determine your water parameters are spot-on based all on how your fish act.

You need to get a test kit.

Even if for some miracle that bacteria product worked, I highly doubt it would make your water parameters spot-on.

You need to test for Ammonia and NitrIte asap!

I would also, if possible, try to support the ends of the tank more, so they are not hanging over the end of the stand.

Other than that, it is a nice start!

I would get more decor, it will make the fish feel more secure and lower their stress level.

Do you also have a water conditioner?

Agree with FHM, they might not have long to live, but if you can test and learn the "fish-in cycling" techniques they might do ok.

Also, do you feel secure about the stand under the tank? What do other members feel about a "floating base" tank being hung out beyond the edges of the support? It looks like the standard recent plastic floating base frame under the glass and I'm not sure they're designed to do what you're doing there.

ps. nice looking waterfall and background

my LFS doesnt carry any kit, i was soo heated, but yea, it look really nice

i gotta buy more stuff, live rocks, fake plant and i might invest in a moss ball

and thanks water drop, you correct, but this is waht i got for now, im waiting to buy a new stand , cause i work with what i got xP

thanks soo much guys

Hi knig6! Certainly not wanting to criticize the stand situation, just wanted to help you perhaps find some expertise here on the forum from someone who would know whether it was in danger of breaking - it being such a large tank we would not want you to go through that kind of disaster! I had a tank break and believe me its not fun!

yeah so true, it be a dam disater, do you guys think petco got some kit for reading water??

thats a good steal, people at the LFS keep telling me its bad to have a test kit , and they keep trying to tell me whats good for the tank , i almost spazz on them

DONT LISTEN TO TH LFS THEY REALLY JUST WANT YOUR MONEY

ive been doing a fish-in cycle for about 2 weeks and i tell you now

my API test kit is the most valueable fish product i ever purchased

so forget what your LFS says and get the test kit, it is most important to have one

if you want to know how is supposed to look like look under

"ammonia levels high" by rewlyn(me) in the "new to the hobby" forum

it will give you an idea of whats really happening in your tank

GOOD LUCK

Yeah, its bad to have a test kit than because you can test your water and then they can't.

And then when they test your water, with their crappy test kit and see that your ammonia is off the charts, they will say you are ready for fish.

Knowing that your fish will die, so you will come back and buy more.

In conclusion, they will get more of your money.

LFS sometimes just are full of rubbish!

Only thing that gets me, is why you have a heater? Coldwater fish dont need a heater? Nice tank tho, id say get some sand instead of the coloured gravel and get some drift/bogwood.

Good luck with your tank!

thanks CeeJayy, i have a heater because, its a community tank and also, im not raising goldfish, i just wanted to do a fish in cycle and test the comet goldfish see how it is, i actually have favorite type of fish, like catfish, and some sort close to it

Ah right i see - If you do get catfish then i suggest you get rid of that gravel, to me it looks like the larger kind of gravel and they arent good for the catfishes delecate barbells around their mouth.

i dont know if this is a good plan, but i was wanting to mix the red and blue gravel and add some sand on top of it too coat it and make it look like there 3 different layers
