Hey guys, I recently bought a 44 Gallon tank from a friend who didn't want it anymore, and it came with 2 fish, 1 is a type of plecostomus, and I'm not sure what the other is, I was hoping you can tell me, I've had him for a week, and he is currently housed in an overcrowded 20 Gallon (the 44 gallon tank is still cycling), He does not seem to be eating, but I've had him for over a week and he's still alive and looking healthy, as well as getting along with other fish. if anyone can tell me what type he is it would be appreciated. he is about 7 inches long, let me know if you need more information

Looks like a cyprinid or characin to me, although I don't know which one.

Maybe chalceus macrolepidotus

Its a red-finned Cigar Shark, (Leptobarbus hoevenii) They are a peaceful shoaling fish by nature but get big, 2ft in captivity

thanks guys, I looked at some pictures of them, and it looks very similar to the cigar shark, unless someone else has any other input, it looks like that may be it

yep agree

also in the pic i can see

a common pleco
a black skirt tetra
a oranda goldfish
and the cigar shark

and i dont want to annoy you but this stocking will cause you problems

Good eye on the other fish, I also have serpae tetras, (can kind of be seen below the black skirt tetra) algae eaters, and some corydoras in that tank. and as I said before, I'm moving them to a larger tank as soon as it's fully cycled, but I hit a snag, I was rearranging the filter and after I left the room, The output tube fell out of the tank. 12 gallons later, I heard water splashing. working on cleaning and refilling now

and it does look like an oranda goldfish, but it's just an overgrown comet goldfish, it just looks like an oranda because i was using a blackberry 1.3MP to take the picture, not a good camera

overgrown comet goldfish? they get around 2 ft long, i doubt it is overgrown...

if they were all going in the new tank thatll be a problem as well.
