I have a cichlasoma festea or a mayan cichlid i cant make up my mind on what he is he has 9 bars across his body the 9th makeing the "Y" right behind his gills but it doesnt look quit like the Y's ive seen on others it almost looks like the Y is backwards from what ive seen and the spot on his tale is on the top part of tale like a red terror but not quit as small but ive relized as he's grown it is shrinking signifigantly i almost wonder if he is i hybrid. Crazy thought?? ive also relized as hes grown he is begining to get a yellow color to his body espeacally when the lights are off and you catch him off gaurd. Is there anyone who knows anything about cichlasoma festea that can help me?

sorry i thought i posted a picture but i didnt...lol could anyone tell me how to post a picture as well

You have to upload it to a photo-sharing website like imgur or photobucket, and then post the link here.

i was just about to suggest mayan, these seem the strongst traits in the fish

hmm have you ever seen a mayan with the Y on his head ? I thought he was atleast a hybrid.

Sorry, said umbi, meant uro. Anyway the markings can vary, highly doubt its a hybrid just because one stripe is different.

Thanks for your help I was worried it would be a mayan Cause he should have his adult colors by now I just need more opinions I
wanna kinda find another home for him now

Mayans are cool fish to, i feel sorry for them because they are always ditched because people always buy them thinking they are Festae's
