The 'columbian' veriety has smaller spots than the 'Peruvian' veriety' and supposedly can grow bigger, so i guess u have the columbian then

Pimelodus pictus. The ones usually brought in for the aquarium trade rarely eceed 5"

read somewhere there is a new varitey thats get slighlty bigger than 5 inches hehehe

Well the ones in the shop where about 2.5 - 3"ish allready

He may be a misfit. We bought two at the same time and the second one never got that big. And I have never seen another his size.
