Fish I want

Hey I want a fish that looks like this I saw it on a site, I think its a tigerfish, I'm pretty sure its saltwater, anyone got more info? I was thinking of setting up a salt tank i just wanna know how big it should be to hold this badboy!!!!

Is that not a Lionfish?
Maybe tigerfish is another name for it...


We saw lionfish snorkling straight from a peir in the red sea. Beautiful fish.

smaller ones get to about 10"

they are poisonous. (can kill)

they are preditors and will eat other tank mates.

and yes they are marine

They are very nice, but, I would never keep one, even if I had a marine tank. One day you could be doing matinence and all of a sudden..STING... and there you are at the hospitol. They're more of an expert level fish for hobbyists.

Yup id be much to afraid to own one of those, because they have about a dozen poisonous quills and they're really agressive and they could kill you

but it is so so kewl to watch them eat. It's like an Oscar, they'll open their mouth and suck a fish in from several inches away and so fast....woof....fish gone.

Hm..yeah lionfish thats what I meant...lol. But I really dont want to get stung. Thanks for the replys, I'm going to start my 55 salt up with some clownfish and such.

A friend of mine used to work at my lfs and she was stung by the resident lionfish over a year ago and her finger is still screwed up. Beautiful fish though Maybe you should look into a trigger before deciding on what to go with, they're fantastic as well in a more sleek,mean fashion.
