Fish game #11

YES, I WIN!!!!!! :p :p Hey I can dream can't I.?

I whip out one of my books and look up Characin....looks and looks and looks...hey you wanna just tell me which one it is? There's a lot of them in here I think I'm lost....

i agree with rose can you narrow it down. :music:

Not a firemouth, and for Petes sake, I am not a Piranah

Eleven down, four to go....

Big clue....All my very closely related kin have been mentioned in this thread. By this, I mean when I am a baby, I can be commonly mistaken for the other guys...by novices anyway...in a very large aqaurium, I can reach 30 cm.

Don't know if they're in the stores, but....

Black-finned Pacu

Two more good guesses, but incorrect.

Two guesses to go.

I am going to give it away with this clue.....

My closest relative is the silver dollar...

Sorry slt, (what the heck is a monos anyway?), one guess left.

Let's review everything, you folks will slap yourselves when the answer comes if nobody gets it..

I am a peaceful S.American characin, I like a large tank with nice sturdy plants because I will eat the delicate ones. I am mainly a vegetarian, so I like vegetable based pellets, I come from the Amazon. When little in the pet store, novices could easily mistake me for a silver dollar,(one of my closest relatives), or even a pacu or piranah. I have a red anal fin....

Good luck everyone....

k, I've never heard of this, and I'm not sure it's big enough, but...

silver Mylossoma

Sorry Reg, Not a Mylossoma. That was 15, now what? Do you guys give up? Any more guesses? I can't give you any more clues without giving you the name of the fish.. :)

a mono is a salt water Angel fish. It's born freshwater then when it's a juvenile it's a brackish fish and an adult is full saltwater or real close to it.

Since I don't prefer angels, it comes as no surprise then that I was clueless....any more guesses?

Freshwater barracuda! edit: ok it eats plants!!

In that case there is only one it can be?
Common name Silver prochilodus
Scientific name Semaprochilodus taeniurus

I have never heard of it myself so unless GL is an oddball I am wrong lol
