Fish For An Aquarium

Hey, i am getting my first tank, a 20-gallon. what should i put in it? looking for some cool, pretty easy fish. any suggestions of fish or combos would be most welcome

BN plecos definitely. Just an opinion. I love those little guys but Im suggesting smaller fish than a BN pleco.

A BN isn't really appropriate for a 20 gallon, although I understand why you like them.
 
 
What type of fish do you like Cosette?
 
A 20 is a nice size tank.  Its not huge, so you can't have a huge number or really large fish, but a nice tank.
 
 
I think a little shoal of 6 cories - the smaller varieties would be best: pandas (my favorite), salt and pepper, or bronze.
A shoal of mid-water swimmers like rasboras - harlequin rasboras are very hardy and a nice size for that size tank. Hengeli's or Lambchop rasboras are similar but just a bit smaller.
Finally, I might add a honey gourami or two - maybe a dwarf gourami.
 
 
That mix would give you motion in all levels of the tank and plenty to watch.

African butterfly fish, peacock gudgeons, kribensis, kuhli loaches, Indian glass fish, ebr or gbr, those are some of my favorite small fish. Or if you want fish that are less weird and more common, sterbai corydoras (best corydoras!) schwartzi corydoras cardinal tetra (probably all time favorite fish) opaline gourami, like stated harlequin rasboras, rummy nose tetras, maybe a bn pleco. Bamboo shrimp are pretty cool too.
