Fish Food

alright good thanks freddyk, i see it like this packageing is definatley decieveing, and ingredients would be better to follow if you know what they are, seems best to use both to the best of your knowledge, but proetiens are complicated due to useability
sorry if i pulled this off topic a bit joeyt66

I should also mention, after rambling on, that it's just not worth reading too much into. Get a couple decent brands of food an you're laughing.

I swear by Hagen. I accidentally put too much in the tank one days and it didn't cloud the water.

The only thing I don't recommend is buying in bulk. I saved money buying larger containers less often but found that about 1/2 way through the flakes were kinda stale. Better spending more money and getting your fish non-stale food IMHO.

I feed....Hagen Nutrafin Livebearer food to the livebearers (platies and guppies)
African Cichlid Attack pellets to the cichlids
Bloodworms ocasionally
Cucumber and brocolli lots
Algae tablets ocassionally

freddyk is more than right

I don't know why this seems so intresting
everyone has a favorite brand I like tetra for flakes the don't cloud the watter at all or break up to little pieces I met quite a few people online who swear by New Life Spectrum

High protein foods are good for your fish but too many and your fish can get constipated and die...
Everyone seems to recommend high protein foods like bloodworms, tubifex and daphinia but i think it is how often you feed fish these foods that matter, i also think that they can be less or more suitable for a fish during its different stages of growth- i tend to stay away from feeding my guppy/molly/platy fry such foods until they are about 3months old and i feed them different foods at their different stages of growth.
When they are in the 1month old stage i feed them liquifry no.1 as it is easier for them to digest and then move them onto hikari first bites or tetraminfry until they are 3months where i start introducing them to crushed flakes and crushed freezedried daphinia(i feed them the daphinia once or twice a fortnight) until they are half grown where i still continue with the powdered fry foods but feed a larger percentage of high protein foods.
With my adult fish i feed them mainly fish flakes but they get either a mix of daphinia/tubifex/bloodworms(all freezedried) once or twice a week added into the flake mix.
For the corys and khuli loaches i supliment their diet with catfish pelets and the plecs get algae wafers(7inch plec gets one or two large ones a day, 5inch plec gets one large wafer once every 2days and 2inch plec gets one small wafer once every 4days).

ps: i noticed with my freezdried foods every now and then i find a little insect in them like a beetle or earwig thats died in the box; the fish seem to like getting the additional insect but are there any that are poisoness to fish? Also, is freexedried bloodworm for example less nutitious than non-freezedried bloodworm?

I use Aquarian flake food, but have always had one question...

Is there any difference between goldfish and tropical food? When I finished my goldfish tub, I now give them all tropical. Looking at the ingredients there appears to be no difference! Is it just the packaging?

I also feed frozen bloodworm once a fortnight for 2 days and 1/4 algae wafer every alternate day for the cories (although all the others like them as well)
