i read you can feed shelled peas to catfish? is this true and can other fish eat them too??

Personally, I've found that my catfish don't really like the peas. The other fish love them though, I've tried them with platies, gouramis, bettas, and danios. All of them go nuts. :thumbs:

This reminds me of this woman I'd fish-sit for...she was obsessed with her fish and insisted I do all kinds of crazy things for them. She kept goldfish and she had one of the really round ones who couldn't stay upright by himself or float, so I had to pick him up and hold him upright and bob him around the tank every day.

I also had to thaw and shell and cut up peas for all six tanks and handfeed the fish. Some of her goldfish were huge and could suck in the ends of my fingers. I really dreaded having to cut up all those peas. The handfeeding was cool, though.

All my fish love them and the shrimp are fun to watch as they haul off a chunk,often with a fish in hot pursuit.Even my ADF got in on the act last time,and lucked into a piece landing right under his nose...he was quite pleased with himself :p

Alright, so let me get the process straight;

1. Defrost frozen peas in water (tank water is best)
2. Shell peas
3. Dropped defrosted and shelled peas in tank
4. Watch your fish love them

Will livebearers, such as platies, swords, and neons like peas? What other veggies would they like to eat? I'd like to give my fish some variety in their diet, so that's why I'm asking all the questions.

Thanks a bunch for the tips,
Peter

As well as peas, my fish like to eat courgette,cucumber and lettuce. I feed spinach to my cichlids too. :D
